Learning at Nangiloc Colignan and District Primary School
We focus on the whole child
VELS (Victorian Essential Learning Standards)
The Victorian Curriculum F-10 is the new curriculum for Victorian schools. It incorporates the Australian Curriculum and reflects Victorian standards and priorities. The AusVELS curriculum was the initial incorporation of the Australian Curriculum areas of English, Mathematics, History and Science into the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS). The AusVELS curriculum will continue to be available until December 2016.
The Standards outline what is important for students to learn and develop during their time at school. Students will develop knowledge, skills and behaviours that will equip them to be life-long learners within a changing society. At NCDPS, we use these Standards to plan programs for learning, assess student progress and report to parents. For more information, please download our current Parent Handbook.
Our smaller class sizes ensure your child receives individual attention in the formative years. Our teachers are continually assessing individual student development to encourage their gifts and strengths, and to also address any needs.

Buddy Program
We also have a ‘buddy program’ for Prep children with older students in our school. This is to help students starting at a new school have a welcoming experience from the very beginning. The benefits are two fold, the older children learn to take on responsibility, while the younger children know that they have a fellow student they can confidently turn to for support.
School Sports Program
At Nangiloc Colignan and District Primary School, once a week for each term, the students are offered a free School Sports Program. This is an Australian Government funded program run by the Australian Sports Commission. It is delivered nationally through selected Australian Primary Schools. It provides school children with a fun, free and safe introduction to a selection of various sports and structured physical activities for up to 7 weeks each term. The Program is conducted each term, usually once a week. Previous Sports Programs have included Auskick, Tennis, Netball, Swimming and Cricket.
